All SG teams carry at least one of these Ancient devices when offworld, as they are easily concealed within one of the pockets of the SG fieldvest.

The
Ancient scanner is a multi-functional handheld device, capable of a
variety of tasks, such as detecting power signatures & radiation
sources, and has the capability to distinguish between Wraith and
Human lifesigns. The device is small and rectangular in shape,
rather a like a PDA. It has several buttons underneath a relatively
large display screen.
