First commanded by Colonel Abraham Ellis, the USS Apollo is a Daedalus class ship, and Earth's fourth battlecruiser. Her current mission is to provide assistance, when needed, to the Atlantis expedition and the USS Daedalus.
The Apollo is similar in every way to the USS Daedalus. She is equipped with an Asgard hyperdrive engine, allowing her to travel from the Milky Way to the Pegasus galaxy in eighteen days. As a result, most of the work carried out by the crew is the ferrying of personnel and supplies between Earth and Atlantis, much like the Daedalus.
The command center of the Apollo, the bridge, is similar in layout to the USS Daedalus. In the center is the commanding officer's chair and to the right of him, the weapons officer, the left, the helmsman. The forward section of the bridge includes a wide view port, which is particularly useful in battle situations.
The Apollo carries a small contingent of F-302 fighter craft for use in battle situations. The F-302's are housed in the starboard flight deck. While there are two hangar bays - starboard and port -, only one is in use at any one time, to provide an emergency landing platform during combat.
As the Apollo is equipped for long-range travel, it is necessary to provide a mess hall in which the crew can dine. The mess hall serves hot food and drink to all Daedalus personnel.

The engine room houses the control
panels for most of the ship's systems and is manned by a crew of
highly expert engineers. A main diagnostic console is in the middle
of the room, with a large console on the wall in front, providing an
overview of ship's systems.
The
ship was involved in the offensive against the Replicators in the
Pegasus galaxy and the subsequent united attack against the their
homeworld, along with her sister ship, the Daedalus. A fleet of
Wraith, Traveler, and Earth vessels launched a successful assault
against the Replicator planet, destroying it and the Replicators.
