Daedalus
Class
The BC-304 Daedalus class cruiser is
the second generation of Earth ships developed by the United States
and its allies. The Daedalus class ships are equipped with Earth
technology including, but not limited to rail guns, Mark VIII
Tactical Nukes and a small wing of F-302 fighters. Incorporated into
the design are Asgard shields, beaming technology, and hyperdrive
engines.
When a
ZPM compliments its power
systems, the Daedalus class is able to travel from Earth, in the Milky
Way galaxy, to Atlantis, in the Pegasus Galaxy, in only 4
days, instead of 18 days under normal power consummation. The first
ship of the class was commanded by Colonel Steven Caldwell, it's
mission to
render aid to the Atlantis expedition trapped in the Pegasus galaxy
and defeat a convoy of Wraith hive ships bent on destroying the
Ancient city.
To date, four Daedalus class interstellar ships have been built,
three of which are still in active service. The Korolev, a Russian
operated cruiser, was destroyed in an attempt to repel an Ori Attack
on the Milky Way galaxy. Currently, the United States military can
only build two Daedalus cruisers at one time and are normally crewed by
United States Air Force personnel.
Ships of the class:
- USS Daedalus
- USS Odyssey
- Korolev (Destroyed)
- USS Apollo
