Wraith Hive Ships are enormous motherships home to large numbers of hibernating Wraith. They are fitted with hyperdrive engines, and, although not as advanced as Ancient hyperdrive systems, it stills gives them the ability to travel great distances between planets.

Hive Ships have a triangular shape, with a pointy nose, as is the case with most Wraith designs. The glowing engines can be seen at the rear of the ship, and weapons are located all along the ship's hull.

Most Hive Ships are controlled by a Queen, who oversees the running of the hive, and all ships include vast numbers of hibernation pods, for sleeping Wraith.

Until the Atlantis expedition arrived in the Pegasus galaxy, all Wraith Hive Ships were in a state of hibernation, as had been the case for centuries. They would lie dormant on a planet, even allowing vegetation to grow over the hull of the ship. Upon their awakening, all Wraith Hive Ships began looking for humans to feed on, thus activating all Hive Ships in the Pegasus galaxy. There are believed to be sixty in all.
